About us

What is OBSCURA?

OBSCURA isn’t just a festival. It’s a creative sanctuary.

Founded by artist and educator Karolina Skorek, it celebrates the collision of fine art and the subconscious, dark beauty and emotional truth. This is a place for stories told through light, shadow, and everything in between.

The festival is open to all photographers – both professionals and passionate amateurs and students– working within the surreal, conceptual, or creatively experimental realms.

Submissions are reviewed by an international jury.

The event takes place in an exceptional setting: Bodrhyddan Hall, a historic estate in North Wales, offering a unique and atmospheric backdrop for immersive art experiences.
